How mindfulness heals and opens you to amazingness
Being mindful is a hot topic and here I am jumping on the band wagon with The Mindful Writer! So what am I bringing to the conversation that’s different, that can help you?
The only thing I can bring is my perspective and experiences as a human being, a writer, and teacher of writing, whose life was transformed through mindfulness; and what that transformation has brought to my life, my words and my stories. I do so in the hope that it can bring you more joy, more peace, and a healthier, happier life and relationship with your writing.
For me mindfulness has brought healing. It was the first step I took to start to heal emotional wounds I’d had my whole life and in taking that first step, I improved my physical and mental health. I have healed from many physical ailments that had been plaguing me for years and I completely changed how and what I eat. In doing so, I didn’t just lose weight and get physically fitter but I also saw a marked improvement in my thinking and attitudes as I filled my body with nourishing foods. I’m no longer anxious, depressed or quick to anger, my thoughts don’t race around, and I no longer live a hedonistic lifestyle to try and escape those feelings.
Mindfulness also helped me to heal my relationship with my fiction writing. I completely changed how I think about and approach it so that is no longer a source of angst, upset and striving for the wrong things. Instead it brings me a whole lot of joy, as do every day small things and routines.
These are the reasons why I have created The Mindful Writer and all of my Personal Essays, The Slow Story Club, the Mindful Gratitudes, the Mindful Mentoring and everything else I share here, are because I want you to reap these rewards too. It’s also why I’m training to be a Mindfulness Coach and Counsellor.
Call me a dreamer but I really believe that it can make a difference to our world, create the one we all want to see, if we all slow down, shift our focus, and take time to celebrate the absolute amazingness of being here together experiencing this life.
