What a brilliant and welcome idea this is, Amanda. The Tao Te Ching is one of the most important texts in my life. Looking forward to reading your insights on involving it and writing a storytelling. In case it's of interest, here's an essay I wrote some years ago on the I Ching (another Chinese book that's important to me) and its relation to meditation and the daimon muse: https://www.teemingbrain.com/2013/07/15/invoking-the-muse-with-meditation-and-the-i-ching/

Thanks Matt. It’s an important text for me too. Thanks also for the link. I shall read with interest as I’m yet to explore the I Ching properly. I started to read a version a couple of years ago but the introduction was so dense I didn’t get beyond that!

I highly recommend two I Ching resources:

The book I Ching: Points of Balance and Cycles of Change by Jungian psychologist Peggy Jones. Lucid and brilliant

The website https://onlineclarity.co.uk by Hilary Barrett. Also her book I Ching: Walking Your Path, Creating Your Future.

Either of those presents and accessible and insightful introduction..

I just read your essay, Matt. Really interesting connections. I’m going to download the ebook when I’m on my Mac as these ideas about our creativity have really grabbed me and I’m interested to explore them more. I’ve often wondered where the characters that take up residence in my head and badger me to tell their story come from. Thank you for sharing this post and the ebook.
